After a brief stop at the concession stand in Warren, the weary White team from Westfield headed to Chatham to face its second opponent of the day. Sparked by solid pitching by Chris Varano and a strong offensive showing, Westfield found success for a second time beating Chatham 9-2.
Varano got things started in the second inning singling, stealing and advancing to third on a wild pitch. Varakian walked and Bremer drove in Varano on a base hit to center. Varakian came around to score on a 6-3 grounder by Boutsikaris. In the bottom of the second inning, Boutsikaris fired home to Heinbokel who blocked the runner coming home for the first out. Varano then struck out two.
Varano and DiFilippo led off the fourth with two consecutive singles, while Varakian drew a walk to load the bases. Bremer worked a walk to score Varano, and Boutsikaris hit his second RBI base hit to score DiFilippo. Oberman then singled to score two more runs for Westfield.
Once again, Varano led off an inning with a base hit, and Bremer crushed a shot to center to drive in his second and third RBI of the game. Barmakian added a final run to the game in the top of the sixth scoring Rinaldi on a double. In the bottom of the inning, Bremer grabbed a tough line drive in the outfield and threw to Heinbokel on third to catch a runner off base for an inning-ending double play. Both teams went down quietly in the seventh inning leaving the final score at 9-2 for another Westfield win.
