Tonight, Westfield White dropped its final pool game of the State Tournament to Branchburg by a score of 13:0.
Under the scorching heat and drenching humidity, Westfield’s offense provided little firework, with a single hit by Lin in the fourth inning driving the ball to right field for a double.
Varakian and Varano shared the pitching duty and battled hard on the mound. However, the defense behind was lackluster until the bottom of the fifth inning, when a well-executed 4-6-3 double-play by Varakian, Mele and Oberman reminded the fans of what Westfield is truly capable of.
